Saratogian: Five Questions for Agatha D’Ambra

What is it like running your own horse farm?

When we’re not competing, there is so much that goes into it: the riding, training, care of the horses. When you run your own facility, you have to oversee everything that happens there, including constant renovations and repairs and therapy for the horses to keep them comfortable and in top shape. I do have a few students I train as well.

I didn’t expect to have my own business, but I wanted to oversee everything myself. People can treat this as more of a hobby and just compete, but that’s not how I wanted to do it. It’s important to me that my horses are cared for the right way.
