“D’Ambra’s horses know they’re under a talented show-jumping competitor who turned pro this year, recently won the $75,000 HITS Grand Prix and just acquired sponsorship from Elite Equine Veterinary Practice, based in Oneida County.
She’s devoted her life to horses, from the moment of her first trail ride with her father in the Adirondacks, to all the times her first horse, August Eclipse, threw his 12-year-old rider onto the ground and she got back on. She homeschooled in order to earn her high school diploma, because she was too busy traveling the country and world for competitions to get a traditional education. Her mother used to tease D’Ambra as she paced the ring, figuring out the distance between jumps, that it was her math lesson.”
